This weeks Photo Friday is up. I seem to be increasingly good at posting it on a Sunday Evening. I contemplated doing one of the high rise buildings in the city, but then a lot of people were doing that. There were some really good ones there too and I do have a bit of a passion for architecture.
For a while I nearly ran with the idea of going up to the top of Greenmount hill and taking a photo of the truck warning sign. Steep decent next 5km. Trucks use low gear… And a 40km/h limit on heavy vehicles.

Instead I went with this

I found this link on Being Daddy regarding healthy eating in children.
There are some valid points made about not forcing children to eat which follow agreements Amanda and I have already made.

Jamie in particular is really good at being fussy. For a while there the only thing he really had any interest in eating was toast with butter (crusts removed). We agreed that at least he was eating, the best we could do is offer him healthy alternatives.

Cheri also has a similar problem with her youngest. She has just enrolled him in a different preschool after problems with the last one. Mostly he just wasn’t happy there, but also they were not happy with his eating habits. Shortly after pulling him out of the preschool, Cheri received a pamphlet from them regarding nutrition which she was none too happy about.

Speaking of bread crusts, this morning we had ducks at our front door, most unusual, but the crusts from breakfast came in handy. The kids were rather thrilled about feeding them.

Yesterday was an insanely busy day. I had set aside some time for client appointments in the afternoon and early evening because I knew that Thursday is a light mail day and shouldn’t be a problem.

Wrong!

It actually turned out to be quite a heavy day, and then just as I was nearly finished, I had a call from a client who on extremely rare occasions needs a courier.
By the time I got home it was nearly 1pm leaving just two hours before my first client was due to arrive. There goes my planned sleep!

I did a little housework and at 2.30 I jumped in the shower…
Ding-Dong

Great, nothing like your client arriving half an hour early. Oh well, such is life!

Today was a glorious spring day here in Perth and as such I had a compulsive urge to have a barbecue, so I invited my parents around and indulged in that great Australian past time of cooking copious amounts of meat, lightly garnished with a very light salad.

In the spirit of insanly stupid concepts, I found this while reading someone’s blog.
It’s the Masturbate for peace website…

It includes gems like “Touch your sack, not Iraq“, “I cum in peace” and “I’m going blind for mankind

Some Ramblings

Idle thoughts
I deliver the post to one of the major central city department stores and noticed they had a large collection of Christmas trees in their dispatch area.
You know its September when the Christmas stock starts to arrive. I love rampant commercialism

People in Perth just do not know how to drive on wet roads. This morning watching a truck nearly jack-knife his large trailer stopping for an amber light had me thinking “why?”
There was no way he was going to stop, why did he even try?

Simple, the car in front of him, the car with ABS brakes, hauled them on when the lights started to change.
Hey here’s the deal, amber means you must stop if it is safe to do so. Moron!

I just realised that even though I just blogged, my ISP is upgrading their webservers tomorrow and have disabled FTP from this morning while they do. Apparently they are upgrading the hardware and have decided that it would be a good time to do software upgrades too, so by the time I post this blog it will be tomorrow, except it will be today for you and I would have wrote this yesterday…
That’s clear, isn’t it…

Site Revamp

I have been busy doing some major recoding of this site. It is now XHTML compatible.
What that means to you the reader is… well, not a lot really, unless you’re running outdated browser software that doesn’t render the site correctly.
This really shouldn’t be a problem, viewing server logs tells me that no one comes on the site using older browsers anyway (I’m talking Netscape 4).

Another thing I have added is a site search engine, It works quite well, but is very basic.
Next project is to clean up the lower corner of this page, including depreciating the guest book.

Photo Friday for this week is Found and I have gone with the abstract again. I was thinking “needle in a haystack”, but my mother thought of this interesting twist. This is my “also ran”

Completed Updates

The backend updates to the site are completed. Hopefully there are no more dead links and navigation errors, time will tell.
I was hoping to use a simple 301 redirect in my .htaccess file to make sure people who have bookmarked defunct pages (or enter via search engines) don’t get a 404 error, but for some reason it just isn’t working. I don’t know why this would be the case as it is an incredibly basic line of code and .htaccess is available to me.

Instead I rewrote all the old html files that have been replaced with a simple meta refresh and a cuteish message asking that bookmarks be updated.

I have an assignment due … yesterday and I really haven’t done much on it, so I think tonight that will be my project… so why the hell am I blogging???
Actually I know the reason. Procrastination! The hardest part of any assignment (for me) is actually starting it. It was the same with the last one, me putting it off and doing other things (like cleaning the aquarium) until I had built up the motorvation

This page is archived from a static page – some links may not work

I haven’t been blogging for the past few days as I have been doing some backend work on this site. While the look of the site generally hasn’t changed any, the aim is to make updating a little less tedious.
Mind you, it probably wouldn’t be the same site witho ut teh same blatent mistakes and <coding errors, so they will continue.

That is all!
