Doctor

Thursday, March 23rd, 2006

Last week I went to visit my doctor to get my prescription renewed and ended up getting blood tests.

No there was nothing wrong, I just had one of those doctors who believe in the old adage that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

I got my results back yesterday and I am pleased to report that I am healthy. Blood sugar and cholesterol are both good and liver and kidney functions are fine.

Awkwardly though, when I arrived at the doctors I found my ex also waiting to see a doctor. This is kinda surprising because, although we both go to the same practice, it’s a very small one with just two doctors on.

As I am not interested in what she is doing and I don’t care to tell her what I am doing it could have meant for 25 minutes of uncomfortable silence, but I found something to chat about so it was all good.

Drupal II

Wednesday, March 22nd, 2006

I have put on hold the development of the new CMS part of the site because I really need to get on with some actual work.

I have currently got 5 sites in various stages of development so I should spend my time being productive with them rather than on my own stuff.

The second reason is that I have hit a couple of technical snags and, while these things are good for a learning curve, it is really not great for productivity.

One of the snags is the incorporation of an image gallery which for some reason is applying itself to the wrong directory and creating 404 errors.

The second big snag is the integration of existing content into the CMS and I am not really thrilled at the thought of modifying five years of content.

BLAH!!

Drupal

Friday, March 17th, 2006

I am currently doing some work on changing the direction of this site. I am experimenting with a CMS called Drupal and have redesigned the header.

So, now I wonder if I should let you see what I am up to now, or make you wait until it has all come together.

There’s enough information in this post to enable you to work out the directory path if your curious, but if you don’t really care then disregard this!

Time for a Change II

Thursday, March 9th, 2006

As it happens, Graham suggested pretty much what I was thinking of anyway with a frontside photoblog and a private members area. What I hadn’t thought about was a forum.. I wonder if this is a good excuse for a serious re-think on the whole site.

I think I might play around with a number of Content Management Systems and some Photo Gallery scripts and see what I come up with.

Towards the end of last year, Graham and I were also contemplating the future of Flip’s great PhotoQuest that we were all eagerly participating in.
I have written a very basic php script that allows users to add links to this site in real time with a view to using it for this purpose.

I did email Flip out of courtesy to see if she is ok with me stealing her idea which was also a good excuse to find out how things are with her. I have not heard back from her as yet, but I imagine she is either very very pregnant or extremely busy with a newborn.

More will follow …..

Time for a change

Friday, March 3rd, 2006

Because I have been writing in here and not on the front page like previously, I thing it is time that I made some changes to the the main end of the site. I have a couple of ideas of what I want to do, but lately I just have not had the time to implement anything.

I want to resume photoblogging and I am also thinking of changing the menu structure. Should I split the site into two? My blog for members and my photoblog site for everyone..

Feedback people, I need feedback!
