While I am thinking about it (ie, I just attempted to open Photoshop), why is it that every time I do an upgrade on MSN Messenger I always have problems with another service or program attached to my computer.
About three of four weeks ago I upgraded to the version 7 messenger only to find problems launching Photoshop. It didn’t occur to me straight away that it was the IM software causing the problems, but it didn’t take long for me to figure it out. Now, when I want to do some graphics work or some photo editing I find that I have to shut down MSN to open Photoshop.
It’s kind of irritating, but not as irritating as the last upgrade which was conflicting with my router causing my Internet connection to hang whenever I attempted to use the webcam. In the end I had to do a firmware upgrade on the hardware..
It should not be that hard!
You’re kidding, right?

I could not resist “Nerdy”.
This photo harks back to the days when I used to type 55378008 07734 on my calculator.

It’s a beautiful noise, and it’s sound that I love.

“Inaction is a weapon of mass destruction”
Faithless – Mass Destruction
If you see something that you know is not right, and you don’t do anything about it then you could be considered as being just as guilty as the perpetrator. This is why I am taking a stance against the bigotry that I have been witnessing in chat.
For my trouble, I got called an “Indonesian asslicker” by one such person. I thanked them, which probably irritated them more but was not offended by it. After all, the way that person was carrying on in the channel proved his stupidity and I would rather be an Indonesian arse licker than a xenophobic moron who can’t read past commercial media bullshit.
I am thoroughly disgusted by our media who have deliberately kept away from showing Corby in a bad light and concentrated on why she must be innocent.
There is only one person who really knows the truth 100% and that is Corby herself, however the commercial media has spend its time conducting a smear campaign against the Indonesian Justice System. They talk of kangaroo courts but ironically, the real kangaroo court is being conducted by Channel 9 and other media outlets with a commercial interest in the case. The accused in this court is not Corby, but the legal system of another country, an independent state.
Perhaps the most disturbing piece of gutter journalism is the comparison of the verdict for Corby and the sentence imposed on accused Bali bombing mastermind, Abu Bakir Bashir. Convicted for treason and received two years, he was found not guilty for his involvement in the bombing outside the nightclub. The three Indonesians who were convicted of the bombing are on death row, but this is not mentioned in the media.
Even if you disagree with me, try to think of this. Our government is trying to negotiate a prisoner transfer with the Indonesian government. How likely do you think this will be if people are abusing Indonesians, threatening to bomb the consulate and an Indonesian restaurant here in Perth, talking about boycotts and most nefariously, talking about asking for tsunami aid money back.
Misdirected anger is not going to help Corby!

English –
I have never been so embarrassed to be Australian as I was last night. As part of my interest in learning the Indonesian language I regularly join Indo chat channels so I can watch native speakers chatting. Unfortunately the backlash by certain redneck elements of the community over the Schapelle Corby verdict made it a most unpleasant place to be in.
Instead of watching the dynamics of a different language, I got to watch the torrents of abuse and racial slurring of the Indonesian people by a bunch of people who are ill informed and driven by commercial media hype.
Yes, Corby got 20 years for a crime that most Australians believe she did not do, but the fact is that for Indonesian Justice, this is an incredibly lenient sentence. Really she could have spent the rest of her life there, or worse still she could have been shot there.
Was she unfairly treated? No, I don’t think that she was. She was charged with taking drugs into Indonesia and unfortunately in the view of the court, she did. Whether she put them in her bag or whether they were placed in there by corrupt baggage handlers as was claimed is actually irrelevant. Indonesian law is based on Guilty until proven innocent and not the other way around as in our country. The element of doubt does not come into it as it would in Australian courts.
There is one other possibility that most Australians are ignoring… And that is that she could actually be guilty and just (as one of the people I work with put it) a fucking good actress.
Bahasa Indonesia –
Apakah dia diperlakukan adil?.
