Add another 6 hours of editing webpages and overwriting image files I have finally completed this latest “cleanup”
It is now just after 1.30 on Sunday morning and I am almost ready to go to bed. I just wanted to share a couple of photos first for no other reason except that I can.
Thursday morning we were treated to a glorious sunrise, the kind that make you glad to be alive :)

And now I am busy!
Stage one of the updates are done. This includes the creation of 141 new thumbnail images that were not available for the various photo memes followed by the subsequent renaming and shuffling the order of 347 different images (694 if you include the thumbs).
The next stage is to change the html coding in all the pages that point to an image. Thankfully as the first 30 images have remained unchanged this means I don’t have to look at pages before my McLaughable post in Augusl 2003. I am also giving serious thought into changing all the posts from the second half of 2003 as they presently open in a popup window that is inconsistant with most of the rest of the site..
As the image numbers follow a similar pattern to the existing images I will have to upload in blocks starting from the latest images and working back. As I start to change the html files I will be able to delete the duplicate images.
So far I have spent 4 hours creating thumbs and 5 hours on renaming and checking all the images.

Something I have wanted to do for a while now is modify the file names of all the publicly available images on this site so they run in a sequence. This will mean that images for the memes of Photofriday, Thursday Challenge and Moody Monday will all follow the same sequence as the other photos in the general viewing areas.
My main reason for not doing this is simply the workload of having to sort the images into chronological order, change almost every filename and then backtrack all the pages that refer to the image and make sure that it is still working.
I am going to make a start on it this weekend, however I may not do it all in one hit. Currently I am busy downloading the entire site onto my hard disk drive, and I will start making changes there. Actually, when I say that I am busy, a actually mean that my FTP client is busy.. Me, I’m writing this post, clearly!

Green green grass of someone else’s home!
The concept of having a European style lawn in Australia is flawed. It is a waste of our most precious (and under priced) resource – Water.
It has to be nourished with fertilisers to keep it green due to the lack of any nutrients in the sand that is Perth soil. These fertilisers end up in the artesian water table and ultimately into the river which then goes green with algae.
It has to be treated with insecticides to control pests that find it an attractive food source.
Maybe it is time to consider alternatives!

Despite the fact that I enjoyed the first two prequels to the Star Wars trilogy, I am happy to accept that they are fairly lacklustre movies…
But Episode III was fucking awesome, so much darker than the last two.. I’m not going to give spoilers, just go and see it!

I have had a look now at most of the other photo questers and I noticed with interest that no one wanted to model their coats. The closest anyone came to actually doing that was our illustrious host, Flip. However even she took the photo in such a way as her head was not visible in the shot.
Joe elected not to photograph the local playground for fear of pervert recriminations and another quester photographed the swing set in his back garden to avoid going down to a park where there are children.
Isn’t it a sad state of affairs that we have to think like that these days and I certainly don’t blame him. I have been in situations where I have seen potential for a great photo, but immediately decided against it for exactly the same reasons.
