Perhaps I am lazy, perhaps I am cheap, but I decided I wasn’t going to invest in film for my old 35mm camera to do this weeks Photo Friday challenge “Analog”
But then I realised what that I could probably get away with an old archive image, so here is one of the last images that I actually shot on film.. Give me digital any day.

After posting my unofficial Theme Thursday photograph yesterday I received a message via the comments section from one of the other participants in the now defunct meme. Dale at Spunwithtears.com has taken on a new Thursday Photo meme
So here is this first entry – Anything.

I have done 14 Theme Thursdays since I decided to start doing this meme, however number 15 in unsanctioned and potentially the last one. The email from the Theme Thursday people was entitled “Taking a Break” and that’s just what they are doing.. So although this week doesn’t have a theme, or a place to post my link I am placing one final image.
Again I decided to do something a little off the wall. Taking a break could mean sitting down for a coffee or perhaps a commercial influence such as a kit-kat wrapper, but instead I decided to go with this photograph of a friend of my mothers, shortly after breaking her ankle.
I’d like to thank the people who have commented on my posts each week, you all have been wonderful and have made putting this meme together a lot of fun

“Tranquillity. No such beast”, I thought to myself when I got the Photo Friday email yesterday afternoon, but then this morning while I was standing in front of the heater drinking my morning cuppa, I realised that I had been staring at the aquarium for a couple of minutes.
Maybe there is tranquillity after all.

A friend of mine came over on Monday with a six pack and his computer, which I had promised to work on. We had one each, leaving the other four in my fridge where beer pretty much tends to sit until the rare occasion where I actually feel like drinking one.
Don’t get me wrong, I do enjoy a beer, but it seems that lately all alcohol seems to do to me is turn me narcoleptic, so I tend to only drink socially.
Then came this weeks Theme Thursday.. The subject : Thirst!
My immediate reaction was the idea I ended up going with, which had me skuttling down to a couple of libraries to take some photos, but it is surprising (no it’s not) how many people captured beer as their interpretation of the theme.
Going through these images has certainly been thirsty work too, but don’t worry.. There is still one beer in the fridge.. Which brings me to this next offer –

I’m feeling quite pleased with myself. I had got the photos up for this months Photo Quest quite quickly, but it could have been a whole lot quicker if I hadn’t been fiddling around with my code.
Essentially, as I do updates now, I am writing in php rather than using the SSI that I had been using before.As a result, the post for Photo Quest needed some re writing to take advantage of the php. Essentially what I did was use the variable that names the page to define the image. I also set variables for the back and forward buttons which was as simple as + 1 and – 1.
Or to put it simpler.. all my images have always been numbers. For example, the images used in this months Photo Quest were 14092.jpg through to 14096.jpg. It was very simple to take this variable and make it go back or forward. As a result I didn’t have as much editing to do as I would have normally had. The middle three images practically wrote themselves.
Having got that working, I spent yesterday evening improving on what I had done. I have used if/else statements to define whether the link is a back (or forward) one image link, or a return to index link. I have also discovered a thing called getimagesize() which means I no longer have to define the image sizes in the tag.
Only one thing needs to be done now and that is to make the server path automatic. Currently if I wanted to move this site to another server (or maybe actually host it under its juslooken.com domain name) I would have to edit the http address manually. From what I can tell, this shouldn’t be too difficult.
Once I am done, I might put the source code up for people who might be interested. (I’m looking at you Flip :P)
